  • In the first week
  • Overall
  • What will be his highest chart position?
  • How many weeks will he stay in the top 10 (if it gets there)

Sure maybe we can only guess gold or platinum, But guess anyway.

I went into work this morning (and got a copy ^_^) and asked how many were sold yesterday, 16 copies were sold!. That doesn't sound so much but from one store its extremely good for a single. In comparison, Rositas sold 8 copies on the first day in this particular store. So if this is happening in other places then he will probz get to #1, ew :P

i got the single today and i

i got the single today and i got it from the CD nad DVD store in Cuba Mall and it was only $4.95 and there were some on the shelf

I bought Matt's single

I bought Matt's single yesterday.  I am not that fussed on the song, but don't want this Idol to go the way of the last 2.  I still haven't heard his song on the radio.  Where is the support for Matt???

Theres no Idolised this year

Theres no Idolised this year and i dont think radio stations give a dam. The Edge are not touching NZ-Idol this year because Stables is from the opposition and ZM already has its hard core line up of songs that wont allow for Matt's soul genre.

Still haven't heard it on

Still haven't heard it on the radio (More) since last Monday, the day after he won!:(  Will be interesting to see if they play it if it's number 1 this week - which I should expect it to be.

the single came out on my

the single came out on my birthday yeeeee haaaaaaaaa

I haven't heard this song at

I haven't heard this song at all since the grand final.  With Rosita and Ben we had heard their songs 100 times in the first week.  I plan on texting Stables when he comes back on air to ask him when he plans on supporting the Idol he helped choose?!

I'm surprised you say you

I'm surprised you say you heard Rosita 100 times in the first week.  I only heard her song once on the first morning after she won the show.

But yes, do get on to Stables.

I heard it on Classic Hits

I heard it on Classic Hits this morning for the first time on radio. It sounded good :)

I heard it on Classic Hits

I heard it on Classic Hits this morning for the first time on radio.

*puke* THE FIRST TIME YOU HEARD IT ON THE RADIO WAS ON A CLASSIC HITS STATION???? wow that shows you what will happen to matt's music future o_O

Lol! we're about to find oot

Lol! we're about to find oot within the next few eeks if its a flop or not

I was wandering through

I was wandering through music stores in my lunch break here in Wellington, and went into Sounds Lambton Quay. They had a lovely stand of singles under the title "Album of the Week" which I thought was amusing to begin with. Then I asked the girl at the counter how many they had sold so far, and she said 5!
(which I guess isn't TOO bad for 3 and a half days on sale so far ... is it?!!) ;)

I was in rotorua warehouse

I was in rotorua warehouse earlier today and they have a stand of matts singles..maybe 60 singles on there. I asked them how many they had sold since tuesday,,they said 2 or 3 lmao

Our warehouse is the 3rd

Our warehouse is the 3rd biggest in NZ and ordered 100 singles because Rosita sold around 150 last year and sold 70 in the first day but my friend whoo works there said Matt still has 89 singles (39 on the shelf the rest out back) left unsold

This is kinda off topic but

This is kinda off topic but are you back in Whangarei?

Because I fully consider the Whangarei Warehouse to be the 2nd biggest in NZ because the one in Te Rapa, although larger in size, is so bare compared to the one in Whangarei. It's not as well stocked and there's too much bare space.

Anywhoooo...

Petone has got the biggest

Petone has got the biggest Warehouse Hyper Store.
Well that was 10yrs ago, things changed now..
Palmy one is gigantic just opened last year

Lol. It's still probably

Lol. It's still probably tiny compared to the new one in Auckland (Sylvia Park) and the one in Hamilton (Te Rapa) and the one in Whangarei... Those are some huge ass Warehouses.

The one in Whangarei could probably fit FOUR Te Awamutu sized ones inside it.

Yeah I'm back for the

Yeah I'm back for the holidays and I AGREE! But the Te Rapa one is said to be bigger in size and that counts supposedly lol.

You should see it now it's a MEGA but the grocery part is still being made but they have ALCOHOL and it's cheaper then in a alcohol store YAY.

This is also off topic

This is also off topic XD
But the Whangarei Warehouse has an awesome cafe. If its still the same.

It's called Shiraz and yes

It's called Shiraz and yes it is good the food is great. They have a Shiraz resturant aswell in town and it has the most amazing indian food and they show Bollywood films :)

Well, I thought it would get

Well, I thought it would get radio air-play, but haven't heard it any more since Monday, so may fade away after all it doesn't get played!

Whatever the song, the radio stations should support NZ singers and give them a chance!

He\'ll get to Number 1. I

He\'ll get to Number 1. I mean, Rosita did.

anyway just imagine, both Indira &Matt Fans going out buying that duet. mega $$

Air Play yeah some Radio

Air Play
yeah some Radio stations dig it, some dont.

Im buying it as ive decided not to Downl.... any NZ Artists

how long before we see it at the bottom of Warehouse Bins 85cents?

but yes all the hype this week and maybe another week then it'll slow right down. I bet the Recording Company will be gauging sales real time to see if Matt will be a money spinner or not. All looking good, then the decision will be made for an Album

Just one other thing i never

Just one other thing i never thought of,
useless Levin hasnt even got a CD shop or anything except for the Warehouse. Im gonna go in tomorrow and ask how many Levin has sold. that'll be interesting for a town of 35k people and the home town of Matt. it may be 'stuff all' or it may be a good turnover? find out tomorrow....

Levin sold out. I asked the

Levin sold out. I asked the guy how many did you sell? he said the full allocation of 100. Im abit suspicious of that guy talking it up. i bet its more like full allocation of 30 Lol

asking the girl at the service desk when the next shipment is arriving? she replied ''next week and 500 comming'' Now that doesnt sound right to me also

But it's the home town. They

But it's the home town.

They wouldn't have a problem selling 500-1000 copies

Well, I do think it will do

Well, I do think it will do better than Rosita's.  But then even that was the best selling NZ single last year!

From what I've observed, the DJs on the radio like it more, and seem more prepared to play it.  That makes a huge difference.  If it gets air-play people won't forget it and will be more inclined to go out and buy it as it grows on them.

I do think he will have more success with the single than Indira would have had.

No way can I see it matching the sales Ben's got though - or getting anywhere near.

Given that his single has

Given that his single has already had more airplay than Rosita's has had since she won, I'm thinking that Matt will do alright. Radio play is the first hurdle.

Ya and I think his sales are

Ya and I think his sales are going to be much better than Rosita's. Maybe he wont be a flop after all.

This is why I'm glad he won

This is why I'm glad he won and not Indira. I think NZ has had enough of soul divas.

For info, Gold = 5000

For info, Gold = 5000 copies, Platinum = 7500 copies

Singles Chart is compiled based on a 50:50 split between singles sales figures and radio play information

Platinum actually equals

Platinum actually equals 10,000 units

The whole 50:50 split isnt

The whole 50:50 split isnt entirely correct even thought thats what all the official stuff says. If the single sells 5000 copies in one week and gets no radio airplay, its still going to go to #1.

He doesn't need 5000 sold to

He doesn't need 5000 sold to go to #1 - that would be gold.  Sometimes you probably need heaps less than that to go to #1, especially if there are no big releases that week.

Don't know about the radio thing, I haven't actually heard it on the radio yet

I'm thinking he will get to

I'm thinking he will get to number 1, purely because of the "hype" this week and everyone going out and buying it. As to how long he lasts at number 1, or even in the top 10, I'm not sure ... I don't see him threatening Ben's record, put it that way ;)

After all this time, and

After all this time, and having not being played on the radio, have heard it played in full 2 days in a row on More! It must be having a revival!

May get in the air-play charts if this carries on!

Actually thought it sounded good, I enjoyed listening to it.
