Everything we seem to be hearing about what happened at the Wellington auditions would suggest that this competition isn't so much about turning up and singing as it is about a pre-judging selection. I guess we always knew that there was going to be separating of the wheat from the chaff but maybe we overlooked this process. Perhaps this separation stage is nothing more than a separation of those who are camera friendly and those who really don't look good on a TV Screen. You know, that whole "face for television" thing. Perhaps it is more than this. Perhaps they are seeking personality as opposed to cute or sexy or an excellent singer.

Hello Wellington!

The NZ Idol competition kicked off this morning at Wellington's Trentham Raceway, with thousands of hopeful auditionees singing for the judges. It was reported by Newstalk ZB that at 7am this morning, hundreds were queueing up and the line reached 400 metres at times. According to host Dominic Bowden, 700-800 people were given auditions in Wellington, 800 in Christchurch and 2300-2400 in Auckland. Check out our exclusive photos from the auditions!
